Review: Lygon Street, Melbourne City Center
When my brother told me that I should never miss a trip to Lygon Street since the kids are crazy about Italian food, I did not really pay too much heed. But boy, was he right. Best spagetti carbonara I have ever tasted....creamy and rich with just the right amount of milk and cheese.

Another go at Pizza
The last time I made this, it disappeared way too fast. Dad didn't even have a chance to sample it. So, I decided to have another go at it yesterday. I was exceptionally generous with the cheese toppings this time round. Added lots of garlic to the delight of the kids...they are all garlic lovers. I think I have perfected the pizza base and the sauce....YAAAAAAY!

Home-made Thin Crust Pizza
I had so much fun making pizza for the first time. I always thought that making pizza would be quite difficult and tedious but it turned out fairly easy. First time lucky, maybe but the dough and the pizza base turned out very nice and crusty...the way the kids like it. I experimented a little with the pizza sauce and toppings, opting to make my own tomato paste and using toppings that are favorites with the kids such as salami, ham, garlic, oregano, onions, green peppers, pineapple cubes and a generous amount of mozzarella and cheddar cheeze. I made two 10inch pizzas and it was so satisfying to see it disappear with lots of appreciative "hmmmm sooooo delicious" from the kids!

ABOUT ME
WELCOME
First off, let me qualify that I am a rookie at this. Hardly have time to cook fancy dishes and hardly a great cook, but don't think that should deter me from trying to put a tasty meal on the dinner table. With kids who are adventurous with food and generous with their compliments, I am motivated somewhat to dish out the best I can. Not to the extent of cooking up a storm (not that I can, anyway) but enough to create something to look forward to for the family. My kitchen experiments don't always turn out well and I have my fair share of disasters. (that's when I wish I was fasting rather than feasting). But when it's made with love, food doesn't really need to be great tasting to be appreciated.
So welcome to my humble foodie blog and follow my kitchen trails as I share my spills and thrills in the kitchen. Shown here are proudly some of the dishes I have labored on with some amount of success. Given that stuff I cook don't always turn out the way they should, its nice to be able to capture them when they do. You'll also find comments and reviews of food joints I have visited. Don't know if I can keep it up but hey, a dose of blogging has proven to do wonders to my sometimes mind-bloggling day.P.S For the time being, can only manage a photo blog, no time to post the "how to's" but would be happy to share.
