Claypot rice and YONG tau foo
A simple dinner of clay pot rice and homemade Yong tau foo soup. Kids say the claypot rice is better than any they have tasted :) I added a generous amount of boneless chicken, Chinese sausages, shiitake mushrooms and salted fish. But cut down on the ginger to suit their palate.

Chicken chop with mushroom sauce
Ran out of button mushrooms so substituted with straw mushrooms instead and it worked out better actually.

New cake mixer and Sugee cake
My favourite cake is sugee cake. So when the new cake mixer came along..no prize for guessing which cake I baked first with it.

My first home made bread
Another pre Gst purchase..a Breville Bread maker which had the whole house smelling like a bakery. No wonder they call it the Baker's Oven. This successful attempt at my first home made bread made me wonder why I didn't get one in the first place. Hmmm perhaps the first generation bread maker wasn't as "canggih" and had put me off buying because it wasn't as easy peasy as this one. And I never pursued the idea after that. Anyway..here's a very basic bread with raisins. Kids loved it eaten with jam and cheese. The bread is almost finished in one sitting.

Steamboat prepared with the aid of new food processor
In view of post gst price increases, I had purchased a few electrical appliance and this food processor came as a free gift. Last night's steamboat preparation was made so much easier with cutting and slicing done quite a bit by this kitchen aid. To think of the amount of time wasted before..I would certainly recommend it.

ABOUT ME
WELCOME
First off, let me qualify that I am a rookie at this. Hardly have time to cook fancy dishes and hardly a great cook, but don't think that should deter me from trying to put a tasty meal on the dinner table. With kids who are adventurous with food and generous with their compliments, I am motivated somewhat to dish out the best I can. Not to the extent of cooking up a storm (not that I can, anyway) but enough to create something to look forward to for the family. My kitchen experiments don't always turn out well and I have my fair share of disasters. (that's when I wish I was fasting rather than feasting). But when it's made with love, food doesn't really need to be great tasting to be appreciated.
So welcome to my humble foodie blog and follow my kitchen trails as I share my spills and thrills in the kitchen. Shown here are proudly some of the dishes I have labored on with some amount of success. Given that stuff I cook don't always turn out the way they should, its nice to be able to capture them when they do. You'll also find comments and reviews of food joints I have visited. Don't know if I can keep it up but hey, a dose of blogging has proven to do wonders to my sometimes mind-bloggling day.P.S For the time being, can only manage a photo blog, no time to post the "how to's" but would be happy to share.
